Venturer badges

I agree with the previous comments and wasn't sure what my group would think so I asked them to put votes down for each of the badges on the PDF.  some of their reactions to badges at all were fairly negative, but even though they don't always wear their shirts, some of them collect them for blankets etc. so could be a possibility.  As far as the activities are concerned votes were as follows:

We Hike 7 in favour

We Camp 2 in favour (I guess they all do it so it was seen as a bit pointless)

We Survive 8 in favour (highest vote!)

World citizen 3

Community Builder 2

Peace Ambassador 3

Venturer 2

We See and Know 2

Environmentalist 4 - second highest vote, a pressing theme for today's teenagers

our Wellbeing - 2

So to summarise, I doubt we would have a specific badgework session with Venturers but if we organised a hike or a 24 drop off then the badge as a reward might be a good idea.

I'm personally not a fan, call me a pessimist but I don't think that the venturers I've spent time with will identify with badges as the reason to do activities.

That said I think some of the

That said I think some of the activities to acheive badges are flipping BRILLIANT i.e. I survive, I walk, I camp

Have these badges been put in front of any venturer groups? As a part of thier own self governance I'm interested to know what they think of these badges.

Thank you to everyone involved

Our venturers don’t currently do badge work but I can see already they would achieve a lot of these badges.

This summer for example they lead clans, ran elfin and pioneer activities and are planning a district wide event for Halloween.

Those who don’t wear shirts often add them to flags and banners, any chance of larger badges for this? Just a thought.

I really like the idea that the badges are split in two, this give great flexibility for different characters and along with the fact that the badges are flexible and not to prescriptive. I think this makes it easier to encourage the venturers to take part.

A couple of ideas (you may have already discussed)

Fundraising unfortunately this has become part of our venturer experience with table sales, grant applications and budgets?

District, Regional and National meetings as well as local youth service or community meetings helping Vents understand the democratic and business process?

Love the designs
