Dream Big At Home Launch!

Thursday, 7 May 2020

New online games and activities to keep your children absorbed and excited this bank holiday and beyond.

Launching today, a new range of lockdown activities and live content to engage and connect children and young people across the UK, brought to you by the Woodcraft Folk.

www.dreambigathome.uk will go live on 7th May 2020, providing activity ideas and games for all ages to do individually or with your household. It also has session plans and advice for youth leaders, teachers and others running online activities for groups of young people.

A large and exciting database of games, craft ideas, workshop plans and resources for all age groups.  A wealth of options so that you and your children can play games, make friends and learn about big ideas from climate change to social justice through co-operative activities.  Exploring how young people’s voices can be listened to and amplified, and how they can have an active role in shaping our world and their future.

This database is fully searchable by age range, theme and where it takes place – at home, outdoors or online.  There is also an archive of activities specifically designed for those running virtual sessions for groups of young people – suitable for youth leaders, volunteers and teachers.

We have a regular programme of live workshops, storytelling and virtual campfires so children and young people can connect with each other online - continuing a sense of community and connection while we are physically apart. Check out our weekly timetable www.dreambigathome.uk/events/

Woodcraft Folk is the Co-operative children and young people's movement. The demand for our work is increasing as a result of COVID-19 as children and families are faced with isolation from friends, school and community.  These activities are designed to encourage children and young people to continue to dream big dreams, to be active citizens in their world and to think globally – even when confined to their homes.

Even in national lockdown young people deserve opportunities to learn, explore and meet new ideas and people. #DreamBigAtHome is an exciting resource which ties together 95 years of experience of working with young people. We hope to reduce the loneliness and isolation so many young people will be experiencing right now and continue to educate for social change and empower young people to make a difference in their world. Though many of us are stuck at home, we can still span the world with friendship. ” - Pip Sayers, Chair of General Council

““It [the LIVE programme] means I get to see and speak to people who are not my family. This makes me happy. I like talking, playing games and making stuff. It keeps my mind off corona” - Arjun Harris, 10 years old, Hackney
