Fairtrade recipe jars

 

A great activity if you don’t have cooking facilities at your venue. Children take the jars away with instructions for baking the biscuits at home.

Aim: To reinforce familiarity with the Fairtrade logo. Co-operation (sharing and turn taking with equipment and ingredients).
Duration: 45 minutes

Ingredients:
Plain flour,
Baking powder
Soft brown sugar*,
Ginger*
Cinnamon*
Ground cloves*
Allspice*

Youth for Fair Trade

The Youth for Fair Trade Resource Pack is a global youth work resource. It has been designed by Y Care International to help youth workers connect young people to the key values of fairness and equality; to explore what fair trade means to them; and to support them to take action to make the world a fairer place.

Its purpose is to create opportunities for producers and workers who have been economically disadvantaged or marginalized by the conventional trading system. If fair access to markets under better trade conditions would help them to overcome barriers to development, they can join Fairtrade.”

The Paper Bag Game

Aim: To produce the most bags to earn enough money to sustain your family.

What you will need: Instructions in how to make paper bags, square pieces of brown paper, paper clips and a sheet at the end  containing info on how much things cost.

Duration: A session (1 hour).

Cocoa farmer

Aim: To understand why consumers should pay a fair price for cocoa.
You will need: Props (optional).
Duration: 30 minutes

As a group you will role play two scenarios. One is set in Ghana, the other in the UK. Each group will be performing their scenes at the same time.
