Blue Skies Camp 2013 - report

Below is a very full write-up of the second Blue Skies Camp, run at Woodcraft Park Farm in summer 2013.

Reflections on Blue Skies Camp

Hi. My name is Rich. I'm from Camden district, and have been involved in Woodcraft for 3 years. I say involved; what I mean is 2 district camps full of games, cooking and campfires, and last year's ten day panoply of party, play and participation with worldwide Folk that was Cocamp.

Young Leaders Training Camp

Attached below is the full report from Woodcraft Folk's first Blue Skies Camp - a training residential for young people who want to become group helpers, and for children and families who are new to Woodcraft who want to see how it works.

Upcoming training

Woodcraft training

What training is available?

Woodcraft Folk offers a range of training opportunities, some to be self-delivered on a local level and other more intensive residential training experiences. Woodcraft Folk aims to empower all leaders and helpers to be able to run groups with confidence and the necessary level of skill. Most of our training is provided by experienced volunteer leaders within Woodcraft Folk.

Leading for the Future

What is this?

Leading for the Future is a resource created with children, young people and adults from across Woodcraft Folk to support local groups to explore and develop their understanding of leadership, learn new skills and grow in confidence as young leaders. It is a set of activities, exploring different aspects of leadership, developing new skills and putting them into practice.

Introducing Woodcraft

Note: this session plan is an earlier version of the bitesize session - putting the aims and principles into practice. While the bitesize session focuses more on planning your first sessions, you may want to compare the two if you are planning an introductory training session.

A two hour training session giving a general introduction to the organisation, explaining its aims, roots and background.

Mentoring

The mentoring programme was developed in order to help young people in the Woodcraft Folk who were keen to take on more responsibility or who were interested in trying new roles. The emphasis was on supporting young people interested in leadership. The programme recruited volunteer Mentors and matched them with a young person or a group of young people needing their support.
