Additional Camping & Residential Guidance

This detailed guidance was created by volunteers in Cambridge District to support volunteers organising camps and residentials. These overviews of roles and responsibilties on camp may provide a helpful starting point for your own camping or hostel trips.

This guidance should be read on conjunction with the policy and practice documents available on our Safeguarding Portal, especially the Code of Conduct for volunteers and the Camp Checklist.

Learn about Trade Unions with Unite

We're pleased to announced that Woodcraft Folk has recently partnered with Unite.

As one of our affiliates Unite are keen to educate children and young people about Trade Unions, Collective Action, Equality and employment rights.

Succession of volunteers

Its important as a Woodcraft Folk group that as well as operating on a day to day basis you also look to the future. We've noticed over the last few years groups run by longstanding members sadly folded when key volunteers stood down. We want to support our groups to start thinking about volunteer succession and why it's important to have an action plan now rather then being reactive to a volunteer stepping down.

New members welcome pack

Below is a PDF of the information we will shortly be emailing to all new members of national Woodcraft Folk as they sign up. Feel free to download copies to give to volunteers or potential members in your area.

All Together Against Climate Change Handbook

Here is the newest handbook published by our friends from IFM dealing with a topic we all should really care about-our climate.

This Handbook is full of useful methods and theory about how to work with our groups/organisations on the topic of climate change, we hope you enjoy it.'

You can download the pdf version from the IFM homepage on the link below.

Survey of Woodcraft groups

34 Woodcraft groups responded to the challenge of TREE’s end-of-year survey in 2009. It’s one of the ways we’re working out how much impact the TREE programme is having, and this first survey was also simply a way to hear what groups are doing and what they want support with. There were some interesting answers, all of which are in the report downloadable below.
